Emma's Baptism

Emma was baptized on July 22, 2012.  Everything went really well. We just invited immediate family and the great-grandparents to keep the event small.

My mom kept the baptismal gown that I was baptized in 25 years ago. It fit Emma pretty well. It had a little bit of an 80s vibe, but it was pretty special that she could wear the same thing I wore when I was baptized.

Emma behaved very well during church and afterwards we had everyone over to our house for a grill out. The Sioux Falls Air Show was going on also so we were able to watch the Blue Angels and other jets fly over most of the day.

It was about 100 degrees and very humid, so we had to squeeze everyone into our house. We had some good visiting and it was nice for both sides of the family to be able to hang out with each other.

Emma was a little overwhelmed with all the company, but overall she handled it pretty well. She is 6 weeks old today, and she is growing like a weed!

It is very exciting to have Emma as an official member of God's Kingdom. It was a special day :)

Date Night

This last weekend, my mom came to visit to spend some time bonding with Emma. It was really nice to have some help, and for John and I to get some time to ourselves.

My mom arrived on Friday evening, and she even took the night shift with Emma. John and I got to sleep an entire night (minus me getting up to pump a couple times). That was awesome!

On Saturday, we spent the day running some errands and doing some shopping. We also took the stroller downtown to walk around and enjoy the cooler weather! It was finally not 100 degrees outside!

In the evening, Grandma Patty babysat while John and I went out on a date! We went to Braccos to eat, and then did some shopping at Target and Hy-Vee. It doesn't sound too exciting, but it was really nice to spend some time alone together.

On Sunday, my mom headed back home. She had a blast hanging out all weekend with Emma. John and I spent the rest of the day bumming and enjoying the rest of the weekend.

A big thanks to my mom for all her help this last weekend!

As always, I can't help but post a picture of Emma :)

4th of July

Yesterday was Emma's first 4th of July! We spent the morning just hanging out at home as a family. In the afternoon, we went out to John's parent's house to do some laundry because our washer decided to breakdown on us. We have a new washer and dryer being delivered to the house next Friday. We are pretty excited about that!

Anyway, after laundry we went over to John's grandparents' farm site and hung out with John's family. We grilled out, had a beanbag tournament, and of course shot off a ton of fireworks. It was pretty hot and muggy outside so Emma and I spent most of the time in the air conditioned house.

It was a good holiday, and we had a lot of fun! Now hopefully this insane heat wave we have been experiencing can go away and we can enjoy the outdoors a little more. Hope everyone had a Happy 4th of July holiday!

Family Gathering

John's cousins from New York were in town visiting this last weekend, so Friday night we took the trip up to Brookings to see everyone. This was Emma's first trip out of Sioux Falls. She handled it very well.

It was a nice get-together with John's relatives that we don't get to see very often. We ate supper and visited for quite a while. It was a fun evening!
