February Blues

Ugh. The past few weeks have flown by in a blur of mucous, antibiotics, long nights, and crabby children. The crud has officially hit our house, and hit it hard. First, it was Emma with a sinus infection, which got better with antibiotics, but she currently has a cough that has been going strong for the last week and a half, which wakes her up at night, which in turn wakes us up at night.

Elliott is always a little bit of a wreck, but it's been especially bad lately. He had an ear infection about a week and a half ago, took some antibiotic for that, and was free and clear of any sort of snot or cough for like 3 whole days. Now, he's back to being miserable. He's got a nasty cough, goopy eyes, and is just generally miserable. There have been some long night, crabby evenings, and lots of coughing. It may be a long weekend with him.

So, between all the sickness, working a 50 hour week last week, and some other odds and ends we have been pretty darn busy.

In other news, Emma has really been enjoying her dance class lately. We had her last class tonight, and they did a fairy dance routine. It was pretty adorable. I think she will miss her dance class, she really enjoyed the interaction with the other kids.

Elliott turned 15 months on Wednesday. We had his check up on Thursday, and everything looks good. He weighs in at 30 pounds, which is only 3 pounds shy of Emma. He got 2 shots, took them like a champ, and is overall looking very healthy and reaching his milestones with no problem. So, all good news there. Now, if only he could stop getting a cold constantly.

There's not really a whole lot else that is new and exciting happening in the Nelson Household. Emma had a really fun Valentine's Day party at her daycare, and we had fun decorating the house and making Valentine's for friends and family. Emma is very into crafts and painting lately.

We don't have much for plans this weekend. The weather is supposed to be gorgeous, like sunny and in teh 50s, so I hope we can take advantage of that. It anything, I want to open some windows and air the house out a little and see if we can kill some bugs. Also, I may wash bedding, blankets, pacifiers, and clorox wipe the house down in hopes of having a break from all the snot and coughing. A girl can hope right? Spring is coming. Spring is coming.

My parents are in Mexico right now, and my brother just got back from Hawaii. All I have seen are tropical, warm pictures these last couple weeks. And I am sick of it. It looks like they had fun, and I am happy for them, but I am sick of all the vacation pics. John and I need a vacation. Badly.

Anyway, this momma is tired and needs some sleep. Hope everyone has a fabulous weekend, and hopefully by my next post this household is a little healthier :)

Super Bowl Sunday!

Woo-hoo! It's Super Bowl Sunday! A great excuse to eat bad food, watch great commercials, visit with friends, and oh-yeah, watch a football game. I don't really care too much about which team wins, but since Peyton Manning will probably retire after this season, I think it would be pretty cool for the Denver Broncos to win.

We have been pretty busy for the last few days. On Friday, I had the day off with the kids, and spent a great day with them. We did some shopping, had a lunch date, and played the day away. Both kids were very good, and I enjoyed having a fun day at home.

Friday evening, Emma had her first dance class. I signed her up for a toddler beginning dance class. It was absolutely adorable. She was so excited for her class, and she did such a good job. She listened to the teacher, and had a great time dancing with all the little girls that were present. It was a great class, and she is already asking when dance class is again. So cute.

Yesterday was a fun day. We spent the first part of the day with the kids at home, just enjoying some family time. In the afternoon, we brought the kids out to John's parents' house. We spent some time out there doing some sledding, playing outside, and visiting before John and I left to go back to town.  We ate supper and Jacky's at then we went to our first Stampede Game. It was a really fun evening, and a nice break from our typical kid-filled weekend.

Today has been pretty low-key so far. John and I got to sleep in, which was amazing. Then, we went to church, and now I have been cleaning the house and preparing things for the Super Bowl Party until the kids are dropped off by Jim and Barb. Then, we have a Super Bowl Party to go to later this afternoon. Should be a good time!

The only bad part is that poor Elliott is not feeling very well. He has been cuddly, pretty quiet, not eating well, and running some temps. I'm hoping it's just a bad cold, and that he will be getting over it soon, but I guess we will see what the week entails. Hopefully he starts feeling better soon.

Also, Go Broncos!
