Cross Country 2019

Emma had her first cross country meet this afternoon. And Elliott also ran his first one of the year as well.

Elliott was allowed to run in the 4-5 year old race, in which they run a 1/4 mile. I was surprised that Elliott ran the entire race, and really seemed to enjoy himself. And he really liked the popsicle he got at the end.

Emma ran in the 2nd-3rd grade race. She had to run a 1/2 mile. She has told me multiple times that she hates cross country and thinks it is boring, and makes her side hurt. But, she completed her half a mile, and she ran most of the time, and she wasn't the last one, so I was very proud of her. She still told me she didn't really enjoy it, but I think she was glad to compete along side her friends. And she also enjoyed her popsicle at the end.

After the races, we let the kids play on the playground for a while. It was a beautiful evening to spend in the park. We ate supper at Cherry Creek and then headed home to call it a day. We ended the day listening to the kids laughing and playing in the yard on a perfect summer evening.

Emma's ready to run.

Go Emma!

Labor Day Weekend 2019

We spent this past weekend camping at Diamond Lake with my family. It was a nice, relaxing weekend of camping and a nice way to say goodbye to the summer.

We headed to Diamond Lake pretty early on Saturday morning, so we could get to the campground by 10 am for the potluck brunch that was happening with some of mom and dad's friends at the lake. There was a ton of food, and it was a nice way to start the weekend.

We spent the day visiting and enjoying the day. Rachel and Elena came for the day, so it was nice to see them. Ryan was at the lake for the entire weekend, and helped cook most of the food we ate the entire weekend.

The weather wasn't the best. It was mostly cloudy, and high 60s and low 70s for the whole weekend. So, it was too cold to do any swimming and nobody really felt like taking the boat out. So, we spent the weekend on dry land.

The kids buddied up to some of the other kids at the campground, and they had a great time. They spent most of the time playing at the playground or riding their bikes. We really didn't see much of them the whole weekend because they were playing so hard with their friends. But man were they dirty by the end of the day. They were two tired little kids by the end of the weekend.

Overall, it was a pretty quiet weekend. We played some bocce ball, bean bags, and rode bikes with the kids. But mostly, we sat in some lawn chairs, drank some beer, and just enjoyed each other's company. It was a fun weekend, but by the end of the weekend, I was ready to be home again and back to a routine.

Enjoying a day as a Cheetah at daycare

Camping fun.

Elliott's First Day as a Cheetah

Elliott is enjoying week number 2 of being a cheetah, and he is really enjoying it. At his daycare, each room is named after an animal. He just graduated out of the zebra room, and he is enjoying being in the cheetah room, which is the last room before starting Kindergarten. Elliott is growing up too fast!

Elliott is still quite a character. He will talk anybody and everybody's face off. He still shouts, more often than he talks, and we have to constantly remind him to stop yelling at us. He just gets so excited sometimes, he can't seem to control the volume of his voice. He still has many, many questions and he still ends many sentences with the work "right?". For example, "the sun is really warm today, right?".

Overall, Elliott is a pretty easy-going kid, but he likes to push the limits. We usually have to tell him things more than once, or we will be disciplining him, and he starts laughing and tries to be cute, so we stop. It doesn't work, but he sure tries to milk it. And he loves to fight with his sister, and cry if Emma does anything that upsets him.

Elliott's likes:
-The color yellow
-Ipad time before bed
-Happy meals
-Crafting
-Morning time
-Breakfast
-Scrambled Eggs
-Pizza Ranch
-Legos
-Reading books
-Daycare
-Snuggling with blankets
-Hugs
-Camping
-Riding Bike

Elliott's Dislikes:
-Showering (not sure why, huge bother I guess)
-Getting yelled at
-Not getting to do every single thing that Emma gets to do
-Chores

Elliott definitely keeps us on our toes, but he can also be the sweetest, most thoughtful little boy and some days he makes my heart melt. I can't wait to see how much he learns and grows in his last year at daycare.

Have a great year Elliott!!!
