Spring Cleaning

Well, since today feels like spring (and I had the day off) I thought it would be a great day to do some cleaning. Emma thought she would help.

She sure enjoyed emptying out my cupboards. The high today is 47 degrees, which is a treat compared to what it's been. So, here's hoping that spring is on its way!

9 Months Old

Yep. Emma is now 9 months old. Talk about time flying!!! Well, we started the day by going to the doctor's office for a check-up. Everything is going very well with Emma, still happy and healthy. Here are her 9 month stats:

Weight: 17 lbs 14 oz (30th percentile)
Length: 27 in (40th percentile)

She's just a little peanut, but she's looking good! Still no crawling going on in our household, but she's getting really close! The baby foods are going really well and she's improving on starting to feed herself     puffs and cheerios. She is becoming quite the squealer lately! She is really finding her voice.  She is at such a fun age right now!

Emma's likes:
Sitting on the floor and playing with her toy
Chewing on everything (still teething like crazy!)
Looking in the mirror
Bath time (Still the best thing ever according to Emma)
Daycare
Eating- sweet potatoes, squash, any type of fruit
Breastmilk/Formula
Playing peek-a-boo
Being hit (not hard) in the face with a pillow ( I don't know why, but she loves this)
Squealing/Screaming when excited
Car rides
Stroller rides (We were finally able to go out for one yesterday!)
Books (mainly chewing on them, but looking at the pictures as well)
Napping with mom
Rolling around (and almost crawling)
Pacifiers
Raspberries on her tummy

Emma's Dislikes:
Being overtired
Being changed/dressed
Sitting in her highchair when she's not eating
Tipping over (when sitting)
Sleeping through the night
Being hungry

Overall, Emma is doing really well. I just wish time would slow down a smidge, she is growing up way too fast!!!

Sertoma Butterfly House

Today was a really fun day. First of all, it got up to 53 degrees today, which is awesome for the middle of March. Second of all, I had the day off of work, so I decided to keep Emma home with me all day, and we ended up having a blast.

We started the day by just running some errands around town. We made 4-5 stops around town, and Emma enjoyed the ride and looking around at everything, and of course the beautiful weather.

On a whim, I decided that we should go check out the Sertoma Butterfly House. The first room we checked out had about 7 aquariums with fish from all over the world. Emma loved looking at all the colors and the moving fish.

There was also a touch pool in this room, where you could touch sting rays, and some different types of sharks. This was by far Emma's favorite room. Here are some of the pics.

The other exhibit was the butterfly room. In this room, it is about 85 degrees and there are hundreds of butterflies flying around. They land on you as you walk around, and they are just beautiful to look at. Emma was a little overwhelmed with this part, but she did really well with it.

I couldn't get very good pictures of the butterflies because I was hauling around an 18 lb baby the entire time, and all I had with me was my cellphone.

After the butterfly house, we went to Avera to visit my co-workers. I hadn't brought Emma into work for quite a while, so I thought it was a good opportunity to see how big Emma has gotten. And I think everyone enjoyed seeing her!

Emma did wonderful all day. I think we were out of the house for about 4 hours straight, and she didn't get upset or fuss once at all, she really enjoyed the outing.

We finished up the evening by playing at home and then going for a walk around the neighborhood once John got home. I'd say we made the most out of the nice weather.

So, it was a fun, but very busy day. I think I pooped her out quite a bit, hopefully she sleeps well tonight! Hope everyone else enjoyed the beautiful day!!!

BTW- As good as our day was, it has been a crazy day in Sioux Falls. There are quite a few crazy stories going on right now-

These are all going on right now. It just reminds you to enjoy every day and cherish these fun memories because you never know what tomorrow will bring.

Teething/Miserable Weekend

Emma had a rough weekend. It started on Thursday, when she had some sort of a stomach bug and was spitting up quite a bit, and just not being herself.

I had Friday off, so I stayed home with he all day, and she was just plain crabby and not feeling well. And then to top things off, she was teething like crazy this weekend. She was drooling likes crazy, and you could just tell her gums were hurting her.

We tried tylenol/ibuprofen, teething toys, and cold items, and nothing really made her any happier. The rest of the weekend went about the same, John and I were ready to go crazy!! And we felt so bad that there wasn't much we could do to make her feel better.

Then Finally on Sunday evening she started perking up and being herself. I was never so happy to see her looking like herself as we gave her a bath last night. I hope she continues to feel much better!

The many faces of Emma...

I decided it was time to upload a few pictures I have recently taken of Emma. A couple of these are of her eating some pears-and as you can see she has quite the expressions sometimes.

There are also a couple of Emma playing in the kitchen sink. We sat her in there while we unloaded groceries, and she had the best time playing in there!
