Last weekend, we spent Saturday out at the Greenhouses with the kids, and they absolutely loved it. They both rode on the 4-wheelers, rode bike, fed chickens, and just ran around like crazy kids on the farm. We successfully wore them out. They slept very well that evening.
Sunday involved church, Sunday school and bible study, church council meetings, naps, and some softball practice. Softball season is here!! I love playing softball, and I am actually playing on two softball leagues this year. I think it will be really fun, but very busy and time consuming. It was pretty crazy having 9 kids under the age of 7 at softball practice. There seemed to always be a kid crying or getting in the way. It was pretty amusing. Hopefully we got all the kinks out, and we are ready for our double header tomorrow night.
This past week flew by like crazy. Between my call shifts, and John having some activities going on it was sort of a hustle and bustle sort of week. On Friday, Rachel was in town and spent the day with us. We spent time playing at home, and then took the kids out on the town. We went out to eat at Johnny Carino's and then we went to Sertoma Park for a couple of hours. The kids really enjoyed themselves, but they really wore us out as well. Elliott has so much fun, but he needs to be watched constantly and he is always getting into something he shouldn't be.
After the park, we went back home again to play outside and enjoy the beautiful day. The rest of the weekend was spent at work for me. I had an ok weekend, but spent 21 hours of it at work, so I'm happy my weekend is over with. John had a good time with the kids though. They went to his parents' farm on Saturday and the kids had a blast again just playing the day away. Today, John took the kids to the zoo. I guess they were really good and had a really good time. They also went to Hy Vee and Ace Hardware, so they were busy little beavers all day.
That's pretty much all the excitement that's been going on around here. Emma is protesting her bedtime right now and rolling around in her bed and kicking the wall. Grrr. Wouldn't it be nice if 3 year old could just lay down and go to bed?
Elliott's been super adorable lately. He is starting to talk more, and he can say "ball" "cracker" "more" "memma" "dada" "mum mum" "hi" "bye" "bubbles" "uh-oh" and I know there's a few more but I can't think of them right now. It's really cute. And he can understand a lot more than he can say. He also loves being read to right now. His favorite book is "Llama llama Halloween" and I think we have read it to him a hundred times. He just sits there all nice and listens, and gets mad if we stop before he wants us to. It's so fun to watch him learn and absorb so much information.
Well, I better go switch the laundry over and finish up a couple of housekeeping things before I go to bed. I am home with the kids tomorrow, and then we have a softball double header, so some good sleep would be awesome for tonight.
