Wrapping up February.

Somehow I haven't blogged a single time in February yet, and the month is almost over. I kinda dropped the ball there. Somehow we have just stayed pretty busy this month, and time is just flying by.

At the beginning of the month, we went to the Winterfest of Wheels which was in the Convention Center. Basically, it was a bunch of cool cars under one roof. They also had a coloring contest for the kids, which came with a free hot wheels car, the zoo express, and there were even some characters there. We all had a great time, until Elliott decided to wander off and get lost. We had a panicky ten minutes or so, and then we found him climbing on a car. He is a little stinker, and he likes to wander off and give his parents a stroke. I can't wait until he is out of this phase of just wandering away.

We also went to a Skyforce game a few weekends ago. The kids did really well at the game and really enjoyed themselves. The halftime entertainment was an older gentleman who was kind of like a daredevil I guess. He stacked a bunch of chairs up high and then would do some acrobatics on top of the chairs. It made Emma really nervous, she couldn't even hardly watch it. It was a fun evening for everyone.

A couple weekends ago, we went to Brookings with some college friends and watched some SDSU wrestling and SDSU basketball. We spent Friday night in Brookings at a hotel, and then hung out on campus of Saturday until the basketball game. It was really nice to catch up with everyone, and it was a really fun weekend. John and I got back to Brookings at around 5:00pm on Saturday, so we took advantage of the kids staying overnight at Grandma and Grandpas and had a date night. We went to Fuji, which is a hibachi grill. It was delicious, and it was really fun to have a date night all alone.

This past weekend was super busy. My parents came to town on Wednesday evening to watch the kids of Thursday and Friday since Emma didn't have school. The kids and my parents had a great couple of days. They went sledding, played school, went shopping at the mall, played games, and just stayed busy all day both days. On Friday, Rachel, Carlos and Elena came to town and stayed at a hotel for the night. We all had a great time swimming in the pool and hanging out at the hotel for the evening. Emma and Elliott loved the swimming. There both enjoyed going down the slide, and they learned how to jump into the big pool with their floaties all by themselves. They had such a great time, and were pretty sad when it was time to leave. We ate pizza, visited and then all headed back to our house to go to bed.

On Saturday morning, mom and dad headed for home since it was supposed to snow 4-7 inches throughout the day. Rachel, Carlos, and Elena came over to visit and ended up staying the night because of the snow. Once again, it was nice to visit and see everyone, and play with Elena. The kids loved all the attention, and all the company.

Today was a recovery day. Rachel and family left in the morning, and we all headed to church for our normal Sunday routine. After church, we headed to Spellerberg Park to do some sledding. The kids LOVED it. Both kids are getting really good at going down by themselves, and then coming back up with the sled all by themselves. It has gotten really easy to go sledding with them. The hill was super busy today, so my biggest fear was that the kids would crash into someone or get taken out when they were walking back up the hill. But, luckily we got out without any major injuries. Emma did have one collision, and she cried pretty hard about it, but overall she was ok. We had a great afternoon of sledding.

Right now, I am so happy to have the house back to ourselves and I am enjoying the quiet. I am planning on watching a little TV, and then calling a night.

Good night all!!
