Just like that, it's Easter Sunday. We had a great day here, even though the weather didn't cooperate very well. We started off our morning by watching the kids tear into their Easter baskets. Emma was super excited and woke up at about 6 am, but I made her go back to bed until 7. Then, Elliott and Emma found their baskets and loved finding everything that was in there. Their baskets were pretty similar, and contained coloring books, kites, clothes, sandals, spirographs, glitter glue, candy, and yo-yos. They were pretty impressed.
After Easter baskets, we all got dressed up in our nicest outfits and headed to church, Emma through a major fit because her dress was "boy colors" and "didn't have any purple" We had to bribe her to wear it, but her yellow and blue dress looked absolutely adorable on her. Elliott looked very handsome in his yellow polo as well. We all looked pretty sharp.
After church, we headed out to Jim and Barb's. Dennis, Katie, Jenny, Sharon and George were also there. We had some smoked pork loin, along with some other delicious sides, it was a wonderful meal. We also threw in an Easter egg hunt for the kids, and they got another Easter basket from Grandma and Grandpa. The rest of the afternoon was spent visiting and playing games. We just got home about an hour ago, and just got two little tired kids to bed. What a day!!
This past week was pretty busy and went by pretty quickly. John's birthday was on Monday, so we celebrated with a cookie cake, and a couple small gifts for John. The kids thought it was fun to help dad celebrate his birthday.
On Thursday night, we had a surprise 70th birthday party for Ron Nelson. We went to the Bait Shop by Lake Vermillion, and had a good time celebrating with John's side of the family. Ron was very surprised and the kids had fun playing with the balloons and running around.
Emma spent Thursday night at Grandma and Grandpa's house since she didn't have school on Friday. It sounded like Emma had a great Friday out on the farm. She was supposed to come home Friday evening, but fell asleep at 7pm because of her busy day, so she just stayed one more night out at the farm. Elliott enjoyed having the house and mom and dad to himself, and we had a good time playing games and having some one on one time with Elliott.
On Saturday, the three of us headed out to the farm to get Emma. While we were out there, John smoked some mac and cheese for Easter, and we dyed some Easter eggs. We ended up dying 3 dozen easter eggs. The kids had so much fun! Both passed out on the way home and had a little nap. Then, we went to a Stampede game in the evening. We lasted most of the game, but called it a night at around 9pm, and got the kids home to bed.
Whew, it's been a busy weekend. And, on Tuesday we leave for the cities to have a little getaway adventure. I'm excited. The kids are going to love our trip. I will tell you all about it when we get back!
