Camping at Lake Poinsett

I guess September is over, and we are 5 days into October. How did that happen? This fall is just flying by like crazy.

The kids finished up Cross Country during September. They both had fun running and improved their running times each week. Emma didn't always enjoy running, but she ran every week and had a good attitude. Grandma and Grandpa Nelson came every week to cheer the kids on and eat some supper after the meets.

I also brought Elliott to a Ninja Class in the middle of September. Elliott thought it was amazing and loved every second. He got to go with his neighbor-friend, Leo, so that made it even better. He even got to break a piece of wood and got a certificate. It was a great day for Elliott.

We took our last camping trip of the year two weekends ago. We went to Lake Poinsett with the Hinners and Heather's brother and family. It was a really fun weekend. The weather was nice the first day. It was sunny, about 65 degrees, and the leaves were beautiful and changing color.

The kids all had fun playing Pokemon and bey blades and running around together. We barely saw our kids the entire weekend because they were so busy playing with the other kids. They also had fun kayaking, hiking, and just playing in general.

The adults enjoyed visiting, kayaking, sitting around the campfire and just enjoying the beautiful weather. We also played some bean bags and just enjoyed some non-kid time. It was really nice.

Saturday afternoon got really windy, so we ended up inside the campers playing cards for a while, which was also a nice way to visit and hang out. By the evening, it was nice enough to have a fire and be outside again.

Sunday was also incredibly windy and just kind of miserable, so we packed up after breakfast and headed home. It was a long, windy drive home but we made it. The kids are already asking when they can go camping with the Hinners again. I'd say it was a pretty successful trip! But, I am definitely ready to be done camping for the year and enjoy some weekends at home for a while.
