Catching up

Wow, so it has been over eight months since I last blogged. I don't know why, but somehow time has gotten away from me. I will catch you up on what has happened to me these last eight months.

Last summer I spend a fair amount of time planning my wedding and working at Avera McKennan Hospital in Sioux Falls at an internship. I also attended my annual Minnesota Twins baseball game and spent a few weekends camping with my family. It was a nice summer, and like any other summer it was over much too quickly.

I just finished my last semester of college at SDSU in December. I graduated with a degree in Nursing. After 18.5 years of school, it is a strange feeling to no longer be in school and have to study. I am finding it difficult to keep myself busy as so much of time used to be consumed by school and studying. I am used to saying "I have to study" or "I am a poor college student" and now neither phrase applies to my life. Don't get me wrong, I am very happy to be done with school. No more homework, no more studying, and no more expensive tuition. However, being in the real world can be a little intimidating in that now I have to think about things such as health insurance, life insurance, a 401K, figuring out if we can afford a house, and marriage.

Being an adult is wonderful in many ways, and also a lot of work. Sometimes I think being a college lifer would be the way to go. Once you graduate college, there are no more spring breaks, no more christmas vacation, and the social networking shrinks down a little. So all of you who are still in school, enjoy it because time flies by and before you know it you will be in this place called the "real world".

Even though there are things about college I am going to miss, I am very excited about my new job! I was lucky enough to have a job lined up for me at Avera McKennan before I even graduated. I work on the Orthopedic Floor and I am currently on week two of my eight week orientation. I am learning a lot, feeling overwhelmed, and really enjoying my new job.

This pretty much brings me up to today. I am working at my new job and planning my wedding and showers and all that goes along with the process. My wedding is 5 months away, and will be here before I know it! So life is going pretty well right now. Sorry I haven't blogged in a while, hopefully I can get back on track. Thanks for reading.
