Our Last Camping Trip of 2022

We camped for the last time a couple weekends ago. It was an absolutely gorgeous weekend, and we had a lot of fun. We camped at the Big Sioux Recreation Campground in Brandon. We camped with Jim and Barb, and we had a really nice weekend.

On Friday evening, after getting set up, we ate some delicious Beef Stew and homemade chocolate chip cookies. It was so good, especially since it was really chilly out, and it warmed up right up. We also enjoyed a great campfire, and just enjoyed the evening.

Saturday was a pretty busy day. After a morning walk around the campground, we decided to go check out the Farmer's Market in Brandon. It was fun to see, and everyone bought a few things. We also ran into a hot dog lunch and inflatables going on at Ace Hardware. Also, they had their 5 gallon pail sale, so the boys were in heaven.

After those adventures, we went to Oak Ridge Nursery to look around, since that is where Barb sells some of her plants. The kids found some baby kittens, so they were in heaven and loved holding them. Finally, after that stop we checked out Cherry Creek Farms, which sells produce, has a pumpkin patch, and has a corn maze. After all that running around, we decided to go back to camping for a few hours. Emma and I took Chase on a long hike, which we all enjoyed. We also listened to some Jackrabbit Football while hanging out at the camper.

In the afternoon, we went to the Apple Orchard by Brandon and picked some apples and bought some apple cider. Everyone really enjoyed this, and we got some really good apples out of the deal.

We wrapped up the evening with some pulled pork chili, and another beautiful fire. It was such a beautiful evening for camping. Sunday was a pack up day. We made a nice brunch, played some games, and then packed up and called it a camping season.

We cleaned the camper up for the season, and I took all the laundry out to wash (fun times!). We had a busy day to accomplish. After pulling the camper home, and unpacking and starting some laundry, we warmed up some taco meat, made some brownies, and then headed to church for the Bethel Bean Bag tournament. It was a super windy day, so the bean bag tournament was not ideal conditions, but everyone had fun.

After the winners were crowned, we all ate some walking tacos, visited for a while, and then called it a day. We brought two very tired kids home and got ready for another week of school and activities.

I'm sad to see the camping season over, but we had a really good summer of camping, and I am ready to be done packing and unpacking the camper for a few months. I am full on ready for fall.

Last camping trip!
