Emma's 11th Birthday

Somehow Emma turned 11 last Thursday. I'm not sure how that happened. This year, Emma wanted to bring a couple friends to Thunder Road. Emma ended up inviting Lily and the Hannahs. John picked up all the girls around 2:00pm and headed to Thunder Road. The girls got wristbands for unlimited rides for 3 hours. They played laser tag, bumper cars, go carts, and mini golf, and they had a blast. It was pretty hot out, but they really had a good time.

I was at work, and then had to get Elliott to a play date with his friend Mason. After I dropped him off, I had some last minute groceries to get and then started getting the meal ready.

At around 6:00pm, John and the girls got back and we had a chili cheese dog bar. Grandma and Grandpa Nelson also came for the meal. And Elliott showed up at about 6:15pm from his play date. We also had fruit kabobs, chips and salsa, and a cookie cake with a kitty on it (because of course). The girls played in the basement and goofed around until the food was ready. Then, we ate, opened gifts, and had cookie cake. At 8:00pm we took all the girls home. We had one tired, happy birthday girl. It was a success!

Emma got spoiled again and got a Juice Stop mug with a gift card, some games, a Kindle, a kitty sweatshirt, puzzles, a drone, and some other things. She was over the moon.

Emma has had a year of growth this year. There has been some growing pains, lots of learning, lots of tears, and lots of joy. The school year was rough. She had to learn some responsibility and accountability, which is never an easy thing. She also has had to learn how to deal with her emotions in a constructive way, and not just yell at her brother, or freak out. And she is a pre-teen, so there has been some attitude and sass. But, overall, we have had a great year. Emma continues to be my silly, artistic, adventurous girl. She is always up for anything, and really has no fear. I like to hang out with her and spend time with her. We actually enjoy doing some of the same things, which is nice.
