Once we got back from Hawaii, John still had two more weeks off from work. So, we had reserved a camping spot in Yankton from Wednesday to Wednesday. John hauled the camper down one night, and then over the weekend we all went camping.
We had a really fun time camping, we always love Yankton. But, we did have some rainy weather, so we had to get creative. We biked a lot, went to the Aquarium, and just enjoyed our campsite.
On Saturday, we had Homesteader Day. The kids got to make butter, eat homemade ice cream, see some animals, do some crafts, and go to a Birds of Prey show. The kids had a lot of fun and learned a lot. We even rode our bikes all the way from the campsite to the Aquarium, which was a solid 4 mile ride. That was pretty good for the kids.
John and Elliott also did some fishing. And Emma went for a little bit and even caught a fish. We also enjoyed our first campfire of the season. And our first movie watching session on the new TV in the camper.
We brought a Pickle Ball set with us to the campsite and found some pickle ball courts to play in. We actually had a lot of fun with that.
I left Sunday afternoon, because I had to work the next day. The kids and John stayed one more day and did more biking, a little swimming, and just general camping things. Everyone enjoyed the first camp of the season and we cant' wait for more.
We have also been busy with soccer and softball. Elliott finished up his soccer season when we got back from Hawaii. He had a lot of fun this season and made some good friends. He even has had a play date with one of his soccer friends already.
Emma is still playing fastpitch softball. Her last game in this coming Monday. She has had a good season, but I don't think she likes fastpitch as much as slowpitch. So, we will see what she does next summer. But she got to play on the same team as Hannah P and Hannah T, so they enjoyed that. We did enjoy watching her this summer, so I hope she keeps playing.
We are definitely keeping busy this summer. I can't believe June is over half over already. Yikes!
