Reflection

So, another birthday has come and gone. I am now 23 years old. Aging another year has caused me to reflect on this past year and where I am in my life.

Since my last birthday, I have gotten engaged to my best friend, my other half, the person I cannot live without. We received the blessing from our friends and family and we have planned our wedding. As we are the first wedding in both of our families, John and I have done basically all of the planning on our own. We have researched and asked friends about planning a wedding, and we have taken the initiative to plan ourselves a wonderful, memorable wedding.

I moved to Sioux Falls, South Dakota and completed an internship at Avera McKennan Hospital. I applied myself and learned a lot about nursing and the working world. I also spent the summer going to a Twins game, camping with my family, and hanging out with my fiance. I also started working at Hy-Vee part-time and really enjoyed meeting new people at my job,

In the fall I started my last semester of school. I worked part-time as a Patient Care Tech at Avera and as a checker at Hy-Vee as my source of money through school.

In December I graduated from college with my degree in Nursing. I spent the next month studying and I passed the NCLEX in February. On February 16, I started my nursing career at Avera McKennan. I completed my eight weeks of orientation and now I am all on my own doing the nursing thing.

All in all, 22 treated pretty well. I have had some major life events happen in the past year, and I am very satisfied with where I am at right now. Looking ahead, I am very excited about being 23 and the next round of firsts I get to experience. I already know I will experience a wedding, being a wife, living with my husband, a trip to the Hills, a honeymoon, and many other exciting things that I don't even know about yet. Sure, no one's life is perfect, and there are always ups and downs, but this last year has been amazing and I look forward to all the new opportunities in the future. Thanks for reading!!
