My sister is four years older than me, talkative, lives in Mankato, and works as a nurse at Immanuel St. Josephs Hospital. We are so alike and different that it is crazy. For instance, we did not grow up very close because of the age gap and difference in interests. I have always been into sports, pretty low maintenance, and I had a closer bond with my brother who is three years younger than me. Now that we are adults we have a little more in common. For starters, we are both Registered Nurses that work on an Orthopedic Floor in a Hospital, so we always have plenty to talk about. We both like to vent about things about life, our family, our jobs or whatever is bothering us on that particular day. It took us until we were in our 20's to actually act like sisters.
So, about every 3-4 months my sister makes the 2.5 hour drive from Mankato to Sioux Falls to come visit me and some of her friends that live in Sioux Falls. She came and visited this last Tuesday and Wednesday (another perk of being a nurse is being able to get together during the week). I like when she comes and visits because it gives me an excuse to do weekend things during the week, such as eating out and of course, shopping!
The first thing we did was go to Last Stop CD shop because my sister owns about a million books and DVDs and she went though her collection and wanted to sell and then buy more items. We probably spend about an hour and a half going through that store. We also went to David's Bridal and finally picked up that last two bridesmaid dresses. I was getting a little worried since the wedding is 30 days away! We wrapped up our day by going to Shrek 4 and the cheap movie theatre.
Wednesday was also a good day. I started the day by putting on my wedding dress just to make sure it was still fitting and I needed to teach my maid of honor how to bussle the dress in the back. Then we spent the day shopping at the mall, Barnes and Noble, and some Uniform Shops. Overall it was a good couple of days of hanging out with my sister and finishing up some wedding items and spending too much money. Someday, I will have to make the journey to Mankato and spend a couple days there.
