On Saturday Night John, Rachel, and I decided to try out Fat Daddy's Comedy Club here in town. I don't think I have actually ever been to a live comedy club before, so I didn't know what to expect. But I really enjoyed the experience.
Here are my thoughts...
The not-so-positive:
1. Confusing Location. If you look at the website above, all it says for directions is an address of 224 S Phillips Ave. This wouldn't be so bad, but even after we mapped it, we had to drive around the block 3 times before we finally just parked and tried to find it by foot. The only reason we found the comedy club is because some nice people out on the sidewalk told us that Fat Daddy's is located in the basement of a bar named Luckys. It was really frustrating how difficult it was to find the location!
2. We didn't buy our tickets online, therefore we had to stand in line on the staircase for a good 20 minutes or so to buy our tickets. It wasn't a huge deal, but there was only one lady at the ticket counter, and it was a slow process getting through the line.
3. Common Courtesy. We didn't reserve a table either, so we got shoved into the back corner and couldn't see the stage very well. Most people put their chairs against the back wall, so that everyone could see, but of course one middle-aged couple didn't turn their chairs and they were right in our line of vision for the entire show.
The positives:
1. Prompt service They serve drinks and pizza during the show, and they are very quick about it. The place was packed, but we had out drinks within 5 minutes of ordering them, and the waitress was around frequently to see if we wanted refills.
2. Funny Comedians. We saw two difference comedians, and both made me laugh pretty hard. Not everything they said was funny, but I was definitely entertained throughout the entire show.
3. New experience. Probably the best part about going was the fact that we all got to experience something new, and we all had a great time!
Even though there were both positive and negative things about the comedy club, we all had fun. It was a learning experience, and I think the next time we go we can improve our experience quite a bit. Hooray for trying new things!
