London. Days 5&6

Day 5

We started off our day with coffee from a local cafe, and then we headed to Paddington Station to catch our train to Windsor Castle. The train station was really busy and crazy, but we found our train without too much trouble and enjoyed a relaxing 45 minutes train ride.

Windsor Castle was pretty amazing. This is the castle that the queen considers home, so she is there quite often, but during our visit the queen was actually out of the country. The castle is huge, and we really enjoyed touring the State Rooms and hearing about all the history of all the rooms. It was very interesting.

We also got to tour St. George's Chapel, which is another amazing church with beautiful artwork, stain glass windows, and it was where Harry and Megan just got married a few months ago. It was beautiful. But, again, we couldn't take any pictures of the inside of the church, which is a bummer.

We spent a good 3 hours here touring the castle, the grounds, and the church. It was all very amazing. Then we stopped for some BBQ for lunch (kind of ironic to get BBQ outside the Queen's castle). But, it looked and tasted amazing, so we ate there anyway. After a little shopping, we made our way back to the train station and headed back to London.

Once we got back to London, we headed to Trafalgar Square to see the National Gallery and Portrait Museum. These museums were amazing, but a little overwhelming once again. There were just rooms and rooms of paintings. We did get to see some original Monet and Da Vinci paintings, so that was pretty amazing.

We had supper at a soup and sandwich place and then called it a night. We are ready to pack up and head out to Paris in the morning!!

Day 6. Our Last Day in London.

We started the day off by packing up our luggage and storing it in the hotel lobby for the day, since check out was 10:00am. We had some breakfast at McDonald's (tastes the same as at home, just more expensive).

Next, we headed to the tube to go back to the British Museum. We were a little rushed for time the first time we went to the museum, so we went back to spend time on the things we still wanted to see. It was just as overwhelming the second time, but at least we didn't have to see everything this time.

Then we traveled across town to the train station to catch our train to Paris. We ate lunch in the train station, and then we had to go through customs and show our passports and go through security before we could get to the correct platform for our train. Then, we just had to wait for our train.

It was a pretty nice 2 hour train ride to Paris. There was Wifi, so we enjoyed relaxing and watching some shows while we went under the English Channel and into France.

We arrive in Paris at 7:30pm local time (they are 7 hours ahead of us at home). We found our Air B&B, checked in with the owner, and then grabbed some Pizza from a local diner. We also bought a few groceries so we could have breakfast in our apartment in the mornings, and then called it a night. We couldn't wait to explore Paris the next day!
