Christmas at the Capitol

This past weekend was a really festive, fun weekend. Last Saturday, we finally went to Pierre to see all the Christmas trees at the capitol. It was beautiful.

On Saturday morning, we got up and at 'em and hit the road at a little after 8 am. Jim and Barb also came with us. We got to Pierre at around 11:30 am. After lunch at Perkins, we brought the kids to the Discovery Center. They had a lot of fun at the Discovery center. It was basically a smaller children's museum. They had a play vet area, which Emma loved and spent most of her time at. Elliott had a lot of fun with a balance table, and just running around in general. We stayed for about 2 hours, and then it was time to move on.

Next stop was the Cultural Heritage Museum. It was a really nice museum showcasing the history of South Dakota. They had a lot of hands-on activities to keep the kids interested, while the adults could really take in the the rest of the museum. We stayed for a good hour, and then we were all ready to move on to the capitol.

This was actually my first trip ever to Pierre, so it was nice to see the capitol building. And it looked absolutely gorgeous with all the real, decorated Christmas Trees. I love Christmas, and all the things that go with it, so I was in my happy place. The kids also really enjoyed seeing the trees and listening to the Christmas Music. There must of been over 100 decorated Christmas trees. It was a great experience and I am really glad we went.

The weather was gorgeous while we were in town. It was about 50 degrees and sunny, and we didn't even need our coats most of the day. The kids had fun feeding the geese and ducks at capitol lake.

We didn't really have the time to spend the night in a hotel, so after enjoying all the trees, we hit the road again to go back home. We made it home at about 8:00pm, and we were all pretty much shot after the crazy day.

This week has been busy, but pretty much back to normal. Work is really busy right now since it's December. So, between really busy days, and late shifts, and working out, and homework and piano  lessons, the weeks tend to fly by. Also, we are in Advent so we have midweek church services right now, which also keeps us busy. But, I love this time of year, and there is nothing wrong with staying busy.

This weekend, we have the Children's Christmas program, so mom and dad will be in town. We will blink and the weekend will be over. We are definitely in the busy holiday season!!
