Happy Halloween :D

Today, was a busy, fun-filled Halloween Day. Emma went to daycare in the morning because they were having a Halloween Party with their costumes and treats, so I wanted Emma to be able to go and enjoy that. Also, I worked call last night, so it was nice to get a little extra sleep.

After some routine cleaning of the house, I went and picked up Emma. We stopped by the hospital to say hi to all of my co-workers and drop off some candy. We also went to go visit daddy at work.

In the evening, Jim and Barb brought some supper over and we handed out some candy while eating supper. John and I bundled Emma up in her pink bunny costume, and then took her trick-or-treating throughout the neighborhood. It was pretty chilly (like high 30s) so we all had numerous layers on as we strolled through the neighborhood.

Emma did really well with the trick-or-treating. She got the hang of things pretty quickly, and we let her go up to a couple houses on her own, she knocked on the door, and then grabbed some candy out of the dish once they opened up. It was pretty cute. We made a pretty good candy haul, and of course Emma wanted to eat everything. Her favorite candy of the night was suckers. She just couldn't get enough of those sugary, sticky, suckers.

It took quite a while to go around the neighborhood at a toddler pace, but it was fun. It was chilly, but fun. After a nice, warm bath and some Minnie Mouse Jammies, it didn't take long for Emma to pass out. What a fun Halloween evening.

On a separate note, I am 35 weeks pregnant right now. So, 5 weeks or less and we will meet this little bundle of joy. I am so ready to meet this little boy or girl, and to be done being pregnant. Everything is going fine, I am just tired of expanding and my sleeping is not getting any better. I think tomorrow we are going to actually get the nursery put together a little bit, and get ourselves ready for this baby.

Happy Halloween!!

I was too busy supervising to get many good photos, but here's what I got...

Zoo Boo Fun :)

Today was an absolutely gorgeous fall day, and we took advantage of the weather and attended Zoo Boo this evening. Jim and Barb tagged along, and it was a really fun evening.

Emma was a little overwhelmed by all the people and activity, but once they started handing out candy, she was a happy little girl. She kind of switched back and forth between actually wearing her bunny costume and just wearing her Minnie Mouse ears. She likes to assert her independence once in a while, and we could not convince her to wear her bunny costume for part of the night.

It was a fun stroll through the zoo. We took our time and looked at the animals, decorations, and all the carved pumpkins. Emma did really well throughout the whole zoo, and she even rode the carousel which is always a blast.

The weather was the real highlight of the evening. It was just gorgeous outside! It was 70s, sunny, and not even windy. We actually had to wear bug spray because the little black bugs would not leave us alone. It's not very often we have a problem with bugs at the end of October!

After the zoo boo, we went out to eat at Pizza Ranch, which was insanely busy. After filling ourselves with too much Pizza, we headed back home. It was such a fun evening, and Emma had a really good time and was very well-behaved.

Right now, Emma is falling asleep in her bed, and John and I are watching the end of the World Series Game 3. What a great night, I can't wait for the rest of the weekend :)

Jumping in the leaves :)

This week has been absolutely gorgeous! Yesterday was 70s and sunny, and it is supposed to be about the exact same thing today. So, we have been enjoying the great outdoors and soaking up this beautiful weather while it lasts.

Emma is slowly getting over her ear infection. She has been on antibiotics for 3 days and ibuprofen, and she is feeling much better. We are continuing to work on potty training, and it's going pretty well, but we still need to work on the pooping in the potty part of things, but it's coming along. Emma's obsession with Mickey Mouse is in full swing, and we can't go a single day without watching at least one episode of Mickey Mouse. I plan on buying her some Minnie Mouse underwear to hopefully make some progress on potty training.

Yesterday evening we raked up some leaves and Emma had a blast jumping in them. She was a mess by the end of the evening. But it was perfect :)

I have today off from work, and it's supposed to be a beautiful day outside. So, after I get up off the couch and clean the house some, I plan on getting Emma from daycare and having some outdoor fun. Also, we are attending Zoo Boo tonight, so I need to get the final touches on Emma's Halloween Costume. I am super excited, should be a fun evening and I love this time of year :)

Beautiful Fall Weather

Well, I have definitely not been blogging as frequently as I would like to. Emma keeps me pretty busy most evenings, and then I am just completely shot come about 9:30 pm, so it doesn't leave me much time for blogging. I will try to catch you up on what has been going on at the Nelson household.

Last week, I worked call a couple nights and worked all weekend, so I took full advantage of a couple days off I had during the week last week. Last Wednesday and Thursday were just beautiful fall days, so I spent the days outside with Emma, and they were amazing. On Wednesday, John had a photo shoot with a couple at a park, so Emma and I spent a good hour and a half playing on the playground and having fun. Thursday, I kept Emma home with me, and we had a really fun day. We went to the zoo, which was awesome because there was basically nobody else there. We spent the rest of the day just playing at home and hanging out.

I worked this last weekend, and my mom randomly decided to come visit for the weekend and help watch Emma since John has had a lot of photo shoots lately and photos to edit. John appreciated the help, and Mom really enjoyed her Emma time.

Saturday evening, we went out to eat at Old Chicago, and I got to spend some time with my mom. Otherwise I really didn't see much of anybody because I was stuck at work all weekend.

I finally had a day off today, and was planning on taking some time for myself and cleaning the house and such. Well, Emma decided to have a double ear infection. She was pretty miserable this morning, running temps, and saying her ears hurt, so I brought her to the doctor, and she has a pretty nasty ear infection going on. So, we spent a lot of today cuddling and watching Mickey Mouse. Now that she has some antibiotics and ibuprofen in her system, she seems to be doing ok. But definitely not her usual self. At least she is sick now, instead of next week with Halloween.

I also brought sick Emma to my OB appointment today. Everything went just fine with that. I am 33 weeks pregnant, and everything looks good. I am just not so patiently waiting for my due date to arrive. Emma was pretty good at the appointment, considering she wasn't feeling the greatest.

Today was gorgeous outside. I think it got up to about 73, sunny, and just a lovely fall day. So once Emma was feeling a little better, we spent some time outside and got some fresh air. It was very nice :)

So, that's what's new around here. We are just trucking along working, taking care of Emma, and eagerly anticipating the arrival of Baby Nelson #2. We have a ton of prep to do yet for baby's room, but I think it will be a few weeks before we even think about tackling that task. We may have to wait until it's a little colder outside first, so we don't feel so guilty staying indoors to work on the nursery.

Happy Fall!!!

Catching up

Geez, here I am again. Eleven days into October, and this is my first blog post of the month. I don't know why, but this fall is rushing past me. Maybe I can blame it on being pregnant? Which is going just fine by the way. I am 32 weeks pregnant, and super ready to be done with it. My sleeping sucks, I pee constantly, and my feet and back hurt at the end of every work day. But other than that, things are going well, I'm just ready to meet this little guy or girl.

October has been a pretty good month so far. It has been a little chilly, it has actually gotten below freezing the last couple nights. Emma has been really good lately, and I just love the age she is at. She can count to 10, sing quite a bit of the ABCs, and she is into repeating everything that John and I say, which luckily hasn't been anything bad yet :)

We are also working hard on potty training right now. She has been wearing underwear the last couple days, and has been doing very well with it. We are still working on pooping in the potty though, so we have had some messy accidents in the underwear. But overall, I am really proud of how well Emma is doing, and I am getting excited to hopefully have her out of diapers in the near future

Bedtime is also getting better. She still throws quite a stink when we tell her it is time to go to bed, but once she realizes there is no getting out of it, she settles in. Typically, she wants me to put her to bed. I tuck her in with her blankie, sippy of water, and of course her Mickey Mouse. Sometimes we read a book together, other times I turn off the light, lay with her for 10-15 minutes, and then tell her goodnight and leave the room. Usually, we don't hear another peep out of her until around 7:00 the next morning. Not too bad of a bedtime routine, I'll take it!

We are also working on trying to get Emma to eat a bigger variety of foods. She is stuck on hot dogs, spaghetti, BBQ, waffles, bread, fruit snacks, applesauce, sometimes yogurt, and macaroni and cheese. She does eat some other foods, but these are her go-to foods. And she is terrible about eating fruits or veggies. So, this is a work in progress to say the least.

We have been trying to spend as much time outside and at the parks before the weather turns cold and we are stuck inside all winter. I love all the changing colors and the cooler weather that fall has to offer. And Emma still loves being outside, and it's a great way to wear her out!

Today, we went out to Jim and Barb's to visit. Emma had a blast collecting chicken eggs and just running around in all the open space. John helped his dad with a building project that they have going on with the County Line Nursery Store, we ate supper, and now we are back at home with Emma sleeping peacefully in her room.

So far it's been a great weekend, and tomorrow looks like it is supposed to be beautiful outside, so perhaps we will go visit another park and enjoy the great outdoors. Sorry it's been so long since I blogged, I will try to keep up a little better.

As always, here are some adorable Emma pictures to leave you with :D
